Principal Attorney
Jonathan A. Sorkowitz
BIO
Jonathan A. Sorkowitz is a civil litigator focused on complex matters that raise significant or novel legal questions, including constitutional litigation, class actions, and product liability. He represents clients ranging from large institutions and government entities to bereaved parents and exploited consumers. His practice spans both plaintiff- and defense-side representations, with substantial experience litigating in trial and appellate courts.
Jon handles a wide range of complex disputes for businesses and governments, including commercial litigation, constitutional matters, and insurance coverage. His work for these clients includes defending governments against constitutional challenges to statutes and regulatory actions and complex antitrust litigation.
In his plaintiff-side practice, Jon has represented individuals and families in complex product liability and wrongful death matters, including the successful prosecution of multiple cases arising from deaths associated with Fisher-Price Rock ’n Play Sleeper products. He also represents clients in class actions and other matters involving consumer protection, defective products, and business misconduct.
Jon regularly partners with other attorneys and firms through co-counsel arrangements, allowing him to assemble specialized teams tailored to the needs of each case. His approach emphasizes early development of a cohesive legal and factual theory capable of carrying a case through motion practice, trial, and appeal, as appropriate.
Before founding his firm in 2020, Jon was a founding partner of the New York office of Pierce Bainbridge Beck Price & Hecht LLP. He previously practiced at White & Case LLP, where he focused on commercial litigation and antitrust matters, and at Skarzynski Black LLC (now Skarzynski Marick), an insurance coverage and litigation boutique. Early in his career, he worked at The Legal Aid Society in Queens, representing families facing eviction in the aftermath of the financial crisis.
Jon has been named a Super Lawyer each year since 2019. He is admitted to practice in New York, California, and Arizona, as well as before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second and Ninth Circuits and multiple federal district courts. He holds a B.A. in History from Cornell University and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was a Senior Editor of the Journal of Constitutional Law. During law school, he served as a summer clerk to U.S. District Judge Norma Shapiro of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
